Board Member Resignations

by Mike Crawford

During the past year, Golf 4 Fun has experienced several resig- nations from its Board of Directors.
Judy MacKenzie, citing increased obligations with her profession, has resigned as chair of the volunteers group this past summer. Judy got the year off to a very good start in April by hosting a well-attend- ed dinner for prospective volunteers at the Englewood Golf Club. She explained the mission of Golf 4 Fun to the interested attendees and was successful in getting a number of people to sign up for a season of volunteer work. Thank you Judy for your time and efforts. Her duties have been assumed by David Milster who continued in the position following Judy’s resignation. David will be a member of the Board. Earlier in the summer, longtime Board Member Barbara Thelen offered her resignation to the Chairman. Barb’s tenure with the Board began in 1991. Her most recent assignments to the Board were the Treasurer and Newsletter Editor. So efficient was Barb in these assign- ments that when she decided to relinquish them, it took two peo- ple, Carol McGough, Treasurer, and Mike Crawford, Newsletter Editor, to replace her. On the current Board, Darlene Evans is the Treasurer and Crawford remains as the Newsletter Editor. Barb and her husband Ed now rotate their residences during the year between Colorado and Arizona, and she cites this as her reason for not being able to fulfill a consistent commitment to the Board. The Board sin-
cerely thanks Barb for her 13 years of service to Golf 4 Fun. Another person who also dates her service to 1991 as a Board mem-
ber is Ann Waterman. Ann also submitted her resignation this sum- mer. In addition to her service on the Board, Ann acted as the pho- tographer for all of Golf 4 Fun’s activities each year. She contributed her photographs for use in the The Links Letter, poster boards of Golf
4 Fun activities, and shared her photos with the students too. Ann also assisted in volunteering during lessons at Englewood. Presently, Ann has decided to divide her time between the eastern and west- ern sides of the Continental Divide, maintaining residences in Denver and Grand Lake. Thank you Ann for your many contributions to Golf
4 Fun Board meetings and activities that you attended during the Golf 4 Fun season.
Marion Pfluger, PGA consultant to the Board, has also resigned.

Marion drew upon his profession as a member of the PGA to advise the Board on matters relating to golf. He would also contribute arti- cles to the The Links Letter on his experiences as a professional golfer. Particularly interesting was his article on his perspectives of various PGA touring professionals who played during International week at Castle Pines. Serving as the starter on the #1 tee during this tournament gave him this unique opportunity to view the players. Marion is most remembered in golf circles for being the first head professional at Pinehurst Country Club and serving in this capacity continuously for almost 40 years. Earlier in his career as a club pro- fessional in Dallas, one of his employees was a young fellow named Lee Trevino. He also cites on his resume as having played against Arnold Palmer when Marion was a student at the University of Texas and Arnold was playing for Wake Forest college. Thanks Marion for serving Golf 4 Fun and enjoy your retirement.

Fundraising

by Sheila Nevin

Once again, Golf 4 Fun thanks Sports Enthusiasts for its fundrais- ing effort. Sports Enthusiasts held its Kickoff Tournament and Silent Auction in June and raised $1,195.00 for the disabled golfers in our program. Special interest groups such as Sports Enthusiasts contin- ue to aid Golf 4 Fun. If your organization or golf league has any inter- est in a play day or event for the benefit of Golf 4 Fun, please con- tact me at 303-758-9452.
The insert card in this newsletter helps Golf 4 Fun gather infor- mation from readers in regard to participating in or volunteering for classes, the Fundraising Tournament in July, and the International Tournament in August. It also gives readers an opportunity to sup- port the program with a donation. Since Golf 4 Fun receives no pub- lic support, any donation is most welcome. Your contribution could be a holiday gift in honor of a friend or relative. Or maybe you would care to donate in memory of a loved one.
As we approach the holiday season, Golf 4 Fun extends its grati- tude to all the students, pros, volunteers, board members and donors for making the program what it is today. Happy Holidays!
